New Beginnings Montessori School was originally located on Bennett Street
in Middletown, NY. A previous owner originally owned the four classroom
school, which was named Stepping Stones. In 1996, Stepping Stones was
financially declining resulting in the selling of the building and the
school. Nicola Parrotta bought the building and school with only thirty
students enrolled. The name was changed from Stepping Stones to New
Beginnings Montessori School so as to foreshadow the start of a child’s
education.
In 1998, New Beginnings Montessori School purchased the Albert Street
School building from the City of Middletown. The brand new location
opened its doors to the community on January 4, 1999. The change in
location allowed convenience and more opportunities for growth. The
school is affiliated with the Enlarged City School District of Middletown
through its Universal Pre-K program. With dedication to each individual
child, the school has been able to accumulate over 170 enrolled students
during the academic year and up to 100 children during our Summer Camp program.
New Beginnings Montessori School (Pre-School to Elementary Education)
offers the highest quality education for children age 2 years, 9 months
to 2nd Grade. We provide the working parent with peace of mind for their
child’s safety and security while giving an unmatched level of
excellence in education to all our children. We also offer a flexible
summer program loaded with fun filled events for children ages 2 years,
9 months to 12 years old.
“Children Come First” is the motto of our school! Administration,
Teachers, and Parents work together to provide a high quality and cultivating
education in a caring environment. Throughout our school there are smiling,
happy children in all our classrooms. Our teachers always encourage
the children to do their best and they work at developing a sense of
self-esteem and self-respect in each and every child.
The New Beginnings curriculum is individualized to meet every students
needs. Small class sizes, low student—teacher ratios, whole group,
small group and individual instruction provide the building blocks of
knowledge for a strong academic foundation. Our child-centered curriculum
guides each student to achieve his or her personal best while instilling
confidence. Children are eager to learn more! 90% of our students are
above grade level in reading and math.
“Specials” are incorporated into every grade level’s
curriculum. These fun and exciting classes reinforce the skills students
developed in class and also add valuable life experiences. All children
participate in weekly Art Classes, Music Classes, Spanish Classes, Computer
Classes and Library.
Teacher / Parent communication is encouraged at all times to aid in
the success of the students. An active Parent / Teacher Organization,
Weekly Letters, Monthly Newsletters and Daily Communication folders
help all parents remain in touch with what is going on with their child’s
education. Progress reports, report cards and parent conferences help
all parents understand their child’s development as the school
year progresses. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s
learning as well as attend monthly PTO meetings and volunteer for all
school events.
Our safe, fun Summer Camp Program is available to all parents who need
secure, year-round care for their children. Latchkey hours are
still available and children look forward to spending their summer days
in our exciting program. Theme weeks introduce children to new experiences
while learning takes place in a fun way. Field Trips, in-school events
and group projects keep students motivated all summer long! Summer Camp
is available to all children ages 2.9 to 12 years old.
Safety and Security are a priority at our school! Every parent has their
own ID Code on our new touch screen attendance system. All public areas
are under video surveillance at all times. Our fenced in play yard offers
safe recess fun for all children.
